Congratulations to the Lawson’s!

On Saturday, October 21st, 2023, they got married at Piney Grove Events in Chestertown, Maryland. They had a gorgeous ceremony as the sun started to set, followed by an epic wedding reception. Surrounded by all their friends and family, it truly was a day full of love and celebration.

In November of 2022, I had the pleasure of photographing Calvin’s proposal to Cassie at the same lovely wedding venue in Maryland where they later planned their wedding. Little did I know the lasting impact these two would have on my life. When I first asked Calvin to describe his relationship with Cassie in a few words, his answer was so sincere. He said…

“Cassie is the kind of person who spots a penny on the ground and flips it to heads for the next person… I am just the lucky guy that she loves.”

From the moment I met them both, I could see the appreciation and sparkle they both had when looking at each other. Maybe it was the tears from just getting engaged, or the light drizzle that day, but it was soooo romantic. They are truly meant to be. I was so honored when Cassie asked me to photograph their wedding day and engagement photos. It was such a cool moment when they mentioned the date they chose; 10/21/23, which happens to be just one day before Robbie and I’s first wedding anniversary, 10/22/22. Like is that a sign or what??!

Fast forward to their wedding day, they hosted the most perfect day at Piney Grove Events, a wedding venue on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. It was a gorgeous fall day, with the most perfect details and picturesque spots on the property.

After getting ready with their closest friends and family, Cassie and Calvin shared a first touch, where they could privately talk, hold hands, and pray with each other before the ceremony began; all without seeing each other!

Their ceremony was so beautiful, filled with a mix of tears, smiles, and full on belly laughs. The cheeky jokes and passionate vows, I don’t think anyone had a dry eye watching them be so in love. Cassie and Calvin are a treat to be around, and compliment each other so well. It’s so obvious they are made for each other, and Calvin said it best in his note to Cassie, they fit together like two puzzle pieces.

After the ceremony was complete and guests were enjoying ordervues at cocktail hour, we roamed around the venue to take their romantic portraits. Since they got engaged at Piney Grove Events as well, we visited the same spots and to retake some photos, this time on their wedding day. Going back to the front yard, in-between those two tall trees where they got engaged a year prior, was a full circle moment.

But it did not stop there! The reception at the Lawson wedding was so much fun. The atmosphere was so enjoyable, and filled with so much happiness and love. One of the highlights of the night was definitely once the dance floor opened. Other than sneaking away for a few minutes to grab some late night flash portraits before their exit, these two were enjoying the celebration surrounded by guests. Live music by Mashup Band RVA, an iconic surprise performance from Calvin and his groomsmen, and a jam-packed dance floor all night, it was truly unforgettable.

Calvin and Cassie, I wanted to take a moment and say thank you for allowing me into your lives and entrusting me to capture your proposal, engagement, and wedding day. It was truly an honor to meet you both and come along that journey with you. Your relationship is truly inspiring, and I have no doubt it will be filled with so much love and joy. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness as you continue your adventure as a married couple!
