My journey of photography started when I was in middle school; at just 12 years old. After months of begging my mom for a camera, I was finally surprised on Christmas morning with that oh so wonderful, Canon Rebel t3i. Little did my Mom or I know, that the gift she gave me that day, would be a huge blue print into my life's story and purpose.
My small hobby throughout middle school and high school led me into falling in love with capturing love stories, and starting my own photography business at the very beginning of 2021. The saying "I once picked it up and never set it down." is a true statement for me.
I've never been able to pin-point the exact moment or very reason when I realized I wanted to pursue photography as a career, but I like to believe that the sentimental part of me contributed heavily towards that decision.
I have always been the person with the memory bin; filled with old movie tickets, little notes and drawings. My elementary school diaries and old art journals are neatly tucked away, along with the hundreds of cheap Walgreens prints that used to cover my bedroom walls throughout my childhood. I'm the girl who saves a rose from each bouquet I receive, or will hold on to absolutely every card that has been signed by a loved one. It may seem excessive to some, but these small tokens and memories are a collection of my life, and gosh it is so beautiful to look back through.
A time capsule of memories, frozen in time, but still very much alive and telling a story. It's a passion and love that has been engraved in my life from the start. By falling in love with the art of photography and knowing just how much freezing moments of life are, creating my own photography business was destined to happen.

Through the art of photography, I have had the privilege of meeting many extraordinary people and capturing many lasting memories. Each person who has entered my life through Karlie Whitt Photography has changed me for the better. My main purpose in life is to have a personal connection with those I work with, which is why during the process of getting to know you, I truly become emotionally invested in your story; and capturing that story just how you see and feel it. I am a friend to you. A friend who is here to help, to answer questions, and to preserve your memories. Photography is more than pretty instagram-worthy photos, it's truly an experience for you and me both.
You deserve to have a memory bin, filled to the top of all the moments in life you don't want to forget.

Growing up, I lived in a small town on Kent Island, right on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Surrounded by the Chesapeake Bay and endless amounts of bike trails, many days were spent with neighborhood friends roaming around the island and visiting Terrapin Beach on a daily basis. We would ride through the trails, finding the secret spots with the best view of Kent Island. Once I started photography in middle school, those after school adventures quickly turned into creative photoshoot with friends and family. I brought my camera everywhere, including family parties, sleepovers, and school events. Kent Island is a very significant place in my life as I've lived there for 20 years. I attended the local elementary and middle school, and then graduated from Kent Island High School in 2021.
It wasn't until my husband Robbie joined the Navy and we had to move down to Virginia that I had to face for the first time in my life, living somewhere else other than Kent Island. It was both exciting, and terrifying. I was so scared of the inevitable amount of change I would face, but also overjoyed at the fact that Robbie and I were officially ending our "long-distance" and moving into our apartment together in Norfolk, Virginia. All my family, friends, and photography clients were in Maryland, and the thought of essentially restarting my business in Norfolk seemed impossible. However, I was shocked, and overcome with gratitude when I moved down here and was welcomed with open arms by fellow photographers and military spouses. We have been in Virginia since August 2022, and just recently purchased our first home here.
My love and appreciation for Kent Island and Maryland has not and will never cease. It wasn't until I was able to move away that I understood the true importance it has had on my life. Although the military has brought us down to Virginia, I still travel back up to Maryland quite frequently to visit family, and to photograph many gorgeous people and wedding days.

My husband Robbie and I met in 2017 when we both attended Kent Island High School, and just a few months later, we were dating! We've been together for almost 6 years now!
This handsome fella joined the Navy in 2020, which led to two years of long distance dating, endless amounts of letters, and face-time calls while in different time zones. I left my hometown for the first time and moved down to Norfolk Virginia where he's stationed. We just purchased our first home together in VA this past June, and plan to stay here a few more years before moving back to our home state of Maryland.
We also got married! - After a short engagement, we had the most lovely private ceremony together and small dinner with all our friends and family on October 22nd, 2022. We hope to plan our larger wedding in a few years once we're back in Maryland.
I'm so incredibly lucky to call his man my husband. He has pushed me to go after my dreams time after time, and has remained one of my biggest supporters the whole journey so far.
